Practicing Presenting

I decided to take part in a sign up presentation so that I could practice my presenting skills as it is still something that I can find difficult to do and that I get nervous about.

I created a presentation based of the feedback from my last presentation I tried to make the slides look more informed.

After doing my presentation I got all good feedback.
  • You managed to get in lots of information within the time limit.
  • You made the presentation personal which worked well at engaging the audience
  • The last slide is impactful and leaves people with a message
  • You talked well about the actual design and its meaning
  • It was good to talk about the awards it has won
  • linking it to 505 was clever as we know know about your other project.

Overall I was really happy after the presentation because I felt I put my opinion across and next time I present I will feel more confident about creating a presentation and knowing what to say.

Nest

I went to the Nest launch to support my friend Erin and to be able to socialise with people from other courses in college. The event was set in Colours may vary and I was really impressed with the design and look of the issue and how it has changed from the previous issues that Josiah had done. After seeing the zine I want to enter some work into the zine when there is a theme that I am interested in as I think it is a good platform to get your name out there to other students and creatives.
Overall it was a good event to go to and I will continue to go and support Erin and Nest magazine.

An Interview with Warren Tales

In a pervious blog post I liked my favourite card and stationary designs I had found recently. I wanted to learn more therefore I decided to ask Lindsey from Warren Tales in America more about her company and design. I wanted to know how people begin to start a business and what advice she could give.

I emailed her asking if I could answer some questions and funnily she replied by also asking my some questions. I answered her questions and then sent her mine.

I found her answers very interesting and I am planning on creating something out of the questions that I will find more beneficial. I will brainstorm some ideas soon.

An Interview with Coralie Bickford Smith

After meeting Coralie in person and asking her if she could answer my questions I thought of some things I would want to know and emailed her straight away.

After writing my questions I got a quick response of my questions very fast!

I am very thankful that coralie took the time to answer my questions in detail. I am planning to create sometime of book which talks about the talk she did and the questions she answered.

Movie Presentation

I had to do a 90 second presentation on a movie of my choice to help us practice or presenting skills. I did my presentation in a small group of around 15 people. I choose the book thief as it is a good film and is based on my favourite book!
My feedback

  • Good to involve personal opinion and link the movie to the book
  • I wa clear but simple about the narrative
  • Confident verbally
  • Could have done with more slides to separate out the characters
  • Should have thought more into the design of the slides.
After watching everybody I found people with the best presentations spoke clearly and had many well designed slides to flick through to keep the audiences attention. People who did not do so well had less slides with lots of talking.
Every presentation needs a beginning, a middle and a end. You always need a clear ending.
